The Requirements

To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. In addition, to be a good fit for the Imaging Solutions Engineer opportunity, you will have:
  • A bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as engineering, computing, etc.
  • 5+ years of related experience, which might include working with systems integrators, industrial and/or business applications, control systems and/or workflow or similar

  • Excellent communications skills
  • Self-motivation and the ability to achieve goals independently
  • Initiative to learn and grow within the engineering group
  • A valid driver's license and insurable driving record
Preferred but not required:
  • Experience in the security / surveillance market

You also will need to be willing and able to travel about 30% of the time. Most travel will be domestic, but there may be international travel. You'll travel to support solution development. Some months there may be no travel, and then one month you may travel every other week.

The Role

As part of Canon's Imaging Technologies & Communications Group (ITCG), you will support system integration of surveillance cameras and pro imaging equipment. Solutions may integrate network cameras, camcorders, digital cinema cameras hardware, software, networking, rigging, mountings and housings into other devices, and incorporate robotics, remote controls and other functionalities.

You'll provide technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex equipment. This will include:
  • Responding to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software
  • Reporting design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering
  • Supporting customers/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature

  • Working with system integrators to help design solutions that utilize Canon camera technologies
  • Supporting consultants in their efforts to create systems in government and other markets
  • Ensure projector control system compatibility and testing, and provide technical support at trade shows and events
Your key responsibilities will fall into four areas:
  • Case Escalation and QA: Provide field case escalation support by duplicating and re-creating the case environment in order to obtain information and a possible solution; assist in product quality assurance investigations
  • Trend Analysis: Perform research on third party solutions that can complement current imaging products to be utilized in other markets
  • Technical Information Reporting: Gather requirements from customers and create proper documentation to send to development teams to understand current constraints and product modification needs or new product development in certain cases
  • Documentation: Assist in the development of procedure documents for tests to be conducted for new products or concepts; work with other groups to establish procedures for product modifications or testing
